OVERALL , svetlana and phillipe were always a very happy couple. they were very proud in every sense of the word, and sometimes a little too proud, but they seemed to fit together quite well. svetlana was a prima ballerina and phillipe, a composer. they had met in russia, svetlana was working on the russian ballet company, and phillipe was brought in from france to help accompany the ballet. they hit it off right away and stuck together. they were each others muse and were often coworkers of each other. they were passionate and hardworking, and neither of those two things changed when they became parents. leon aleksander rousseau was the first born to the couple. his presence softened them a bit. svetlana retired from performing and spent her days teaching ballet while phillipe continued to compose. four years later, annette mira rousseau was born. only months after her birth, the family moved from their home in st.petersburg to new york city.

as a young child annie was much more rambunctious than her older brother leon. for that very reason, her parents had always been much harder on her in and tried their very best to push her into a good routine and a well-disciplined lifestyle. they did indeed succeed when they put annie into ballet lessons at the age of three years old. at the same time, her brother leon started piano lessons. the entire family became rather inclined in the arts, and heavily involved in it. at the age of six years old, when most children were beginning the first grade, annie was sent to the school of american ballet.

annie had a very unconventional childhood. she was essentially raised at school, living in dorms even as a young child. she spent more time training and practicing than she did on anything else and had little to no social life. she excelled in ballet, though and it became her life. she had various roles as a child in well-known ballets and when she was twelve years old, she was picked up by the new york ballet company to play clara in the nutcracker. most of her schooling was done through a tutor during the times when she had the most rehearsals. she continued her training up until she was sixteen years old. at that point, she was taken as a more permanent member of the new york ballet company. she continued to work hard at this until she was nineteen years old, slowly working her way up to becoming one of the principal dancers. it was right around the time she was preparing to become a prima ballerina in the next production of sleeping beauty when she finally snapped.

between her daily routine, lack of social life and the unbearable pressure from her parents, annie completely snapped. one day after having a bad rehearsal for the production of sleeping beauty, she attempted suicide by slitting her wrists. she was found very shortly after it happened, and was immediately taken to the hospital. she ended up fine and only spent a couple days in the hospital, it was the whole "recovery process" that took long. her parents, astonished by what had happened, of course sent her to an institution to get help. annie spent two full years in the mental institution. originally, she was only supposed to spend six months, but on one of her home visits she overdosed, and they all thought it best to keep her there longer.

so now, annie is twenty-one years old and has just recently left the institution. she decided it was best to get out of the city, so she settled in east hampton. she's now working as a music store clerk and hasn't danced at all since.
